Rap-Up.com || Miguel ‘Pissed’ Over Grammy Nominations Snub

When the nominations were announced for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards on Wednesday, Miguel did not hear his name called. The R&B crooner took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the snub.

Miguel, whose debut album All I Want Is You was released last fall, was shut out of all the categories. “Damn, this really hurts. Congrats to all the nominees,” tweeted the singer.

But his pain soon turned to anger. “I’m Fucking Pissed Yo. I don’t think I’m Gods gift to music but I know the Album or at LEAST ‘Sure Thing’ should have been Nominated,” he added.

After cooling down, he wrote, “All G. Ill Work Harder Then. BET.”

Miguel, who is currently working on his sophomore album, was nominated for an American Music Award and recently won Best New Artist at the Soul Train Awards.

@SlayinHoesSince89, i agree. def should’ve been best new artist contender as well. all of his singles (more than one) have done well on radio and the album was releasted late 2010. they are always overlooking us anyway. if you only knew how the voting process really worked, you wouldn’t care.

I’m mad AF! Sure thing that stayed on Billboard RnB/Hip-Hop chart Top 10 for more than 6months, it is all about politics! R.Kelly’s song never got near top 10 on Urban charts yet had 2 Nods! I have comforted him tho!

These Grammy Nominations are based off popularity and sales Miguel didnt have the best album sales but that album was damn near perfect it had so much depth and substance more so than any other r&b album released in 2010/2011. I still have his album in rotation in my car and on itunes. Dont worry miguel you will get em next time your too talented for that ish anyway.

The Grammy Awards lost a lot of respect this year. I’m happy that J. Cole, and Nicki Minaj got nominated for Best New Artist, but Miguel should had also been nominated for Best New Artist. Beyonce got almost shut out from the Grammy Awards considering 4 was her best album to this date. I feel real bad for Miguel, but the biggest crime of all time was Kanye West’s MBDTF album not getting nominated for Best Album of The Year. MBDTF got better reviews than every album that was nominated for Best Album of The Year this year. MBDTF got better reviews than all of the Best Album of the Year nominees from last Grammy Awards season. Even if Kanye West’s wins Best Rap Album, Kanye West’s MBDTF got snubbed big time in Best Album of The Year. Miguel needs to go back in the studio and try to make a new album ten times better than his last album to prove the Grammy Awards are full of shit.

This is exactly why REAL R&B is fading, it doesn’t get the attention and appreciation it deserves. Which is why Miguel got snubbed and why Beyonce got snubbed a few nominations. Im not saying Miguel is the king of R&B but his Sure Thing song was a big song esp for R&B and does atleast deserve one nom. @Cameo, Sure Thing was #1 on the R&B Singles chart I go to Billboard.com everyday, not tryna be rude, trust me i know. Quickie peaked at #3 and All I Want is You peaked at #7 all his singles were in the top 10.

I forgot about him but yea, he did pretty big things this year; especially with “Sure Thing”-that song was EVERYWHERE on urban radio. Do you know what I think hurt a lot of artists this year? The fact that they took away all the male/female categories. If those were kept, Miguel would’ve probably been up for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance or something like that. Also, the award for Best Contemporary R&B album was eliminated:( That was my favorite category. Beyonce has won that for all her albums but “4″ won’t be getting it this year…

Sorry Miguel but that album was nothing special. Biggest snub was Jazmine Sullivan not getting ANY nomination from Love Me Back, which was definitely a much better album compared to what Miguel brought. The R&B genre is slowly but surely taking a backseat to other forms of music if stuff like Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E is on the list when it is straight borderline Pop music. Could have easily replaced his nomination with Jazmine or even Marsha Ambrosius. Oh well.

What’s interesting is that he really thought the awards nowadays have something to do with talent.
He should just do it for the love of music. If this is where it all started, he’ll eventually get what he’s worked for.
To come in the game with expectations is kind of setting yourself up. There’s nothing wrong with having goals, but I hope he don’t let this snub effect his music…that would be an epic waste.
to those of you who don’t know Miguel, I’m so sorry the mainstream robbed you of good music. Stop being lazy and letting the media pick and choose what you listen to and what is deemed a hit.

I like Miguel but Jill Scott didnt get nominated and her album was great (she pissed). And she is seasoned in the game. So he need to slow his roll and calm down, everybody doesn’t get nominated first time around. Look how long it took for hip-hop category to get televised. I been watching the grammies since i was a kid and i am pretty sure he has too. What these up and coming artist need to realize is that the music industry is not what is used to be for one and the grammy nominations is very fickled on who they nominate, sometimes they go to the most indepth type of albums or lazy un imaginative creations.
