Rap-Up.com || Video: Rihanna – ‘You Da One’

Blondes have more fun. At least that’s the case for Rihanna in the video for “You Da One,” the second single from her sixth album Talk That Talk. Fresh off her new chart record with “We Found Love,” the pop siren switches up her look yet again in the Melina-directed clip, dancing against a checkered wall in various blonde wigs as the lyrics to the Ester Dean-penned song flash across the screen.

She pays homage to Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 film A Clockwork Orange in a white top hat, suspenders, and cane, and bares her body and customized grill in the black-and-white visuals, which were shot in London.

She has the resources to do a “Run This Town” kind of video yet she opts for an odder version of the Rude Boy video. If you were to put the two side by side you would see this. The only difference is, this vid only features her by herself. She killin’ ‘em but this vid nothing but a good reminder of how hot she was in the others.

Nothing really excited me about this in terms of Rihanna but I have to give Melina props. I honestly think she directs some of the BEST videos in the game. I loved the text flashing across the screen throughout the video and Rihanna’s cut out lips while she had a toothpick in her mouth. It makes it more interesting and artisitic looking.

I like this song a lot and Rihanna’s work. But the smoking in her videos disturbs me. I do smoke but it’s not something I’m proud of and I wouldn’t encourage it. I mean WFL has smoking scenes and this one and about 2/3 pics of her TTT promo…..She might as well named this album “Smokers Club” or something….
