New Music: Rita Ora f/ Tinie Tempah – ‘R.I.P.’

Rita Ora

Rita Ora conquered the British charts with her DJ Fresh collaboration “Hot Right Now,” but she’s only getting started. The Roc Nation singer says “R.I.P.” to the girl she used to be on her debut U.K. single.

Written by Drake (Rita co-starred in his “Over” video) and produced by Chase & Status, the seductive dub-inspired beat kicks off with a verse from fellow Brit Tinie Tempah before the blonde bombshell unleashes her freaky side.

“R.I.P. to the girl you used to see, her days are over/ I decided to give you all of me, baby come closer,” she teases.

Do you prefer “R.I.P.” or Rita’s U.S. single “How We Do (Party)”? Sound off below.

Sounds like a bad cover of the song. I do not like it.

@Jordan, The song was written for someone with not a lot of vocal power. Rita Ora’s voice is too soulful.

    INCAS Reply:

@YEEZYTAUGHTME, I hope Rita does an acoustic version of this, I bet a stripped back version would do the song more justice. Anyhow, she’s got a huge fan base in the uk as well as Tinie – it will do well here.

Really don’t like the song, which is a shame as I’m a fan of Rita and have been waiting years for her to come out. The Tinie Tempah line “I feel your aura” really gets to me, awful! You guys in the US have the better single, but even that one sounds like a Katy Perry track. I think i can see why Roc have been sitting on Rita for son ling, they don’t know where to place her.

    Umbrella&deepbag Reply:

@Brady, lol that the point with been a fan of a singer without no material out. Now that people have to judge her work it’s gonna be different. I’m not even blaming on her.

    Brady Reply:

@Umbrella&deepbag Yeah true, I’m expecting more from her, but this album won’t really be her I’m guessing. Hopefully it does well and she can have much more of an input on her future stuff. She has the mentor, label, voice and the image, now just needs the material.

so disappointed. drakes demo was way better and his original production was much better suited to the song. this is trash.

She’s nearly lost me as a fan before it begins. Musically, I’m not feeling it and this music isn’t unique to her. Hey Ya! is still my favorite thing she’s done.

I want her to win but this sounded like a Rihanna track when Drake did the reference way back when. The other track does sound like a Katy Perry record. So far they seem to be letting Bridget Kelly find her own sound or at least something more soulful while Rita is getting rehash fair. Alexis Jordan did a bunch of dance records but as a teen I kind of expected it. Hopefully at some point Rita will get to shine on the album somewhere.

hahahaha drake is coldhearted man his releasing songs then just handing it to artists like 3 years after its been released acting like its a new song his just wrote haha
he did the same with the jamie foxx song his so cold hahaha
p.s some people think drake shouldnt sing but his version is clearly way better than this version and shes actually a singer

    [Reply]

    Shade Reply:

@CarlosBonegro, it’s not his fault. They leaked and it’s the artists decision when they wanna record it and release it not Drake’s

This song has been on YouTube for too long now, this came too late. And honestly, Rita didn’t do it justice. She couldn’t make it interesting. And what happened to the chorus? Drake deserves props, ’cause his version, I loved.

I have nothing against Rita but Jayz is another thing. As for DRAKE he is officially bitch made. What Jayz and Beyonce better realize is that God don’t like ugly and this will back fire on them I’m sure of it. He tried with Alexis , then Willow now he doing it with Rita. Rihanna has the right to be mad, he trying his best to duplicate her and he will fail. It’s total disrespect, I knew that there was a reason why Beyonce was in full support and helping Rita, she have an underlining motive the bitch don’t want Rih to stand out on her own.Beyonce did this shit with Kelly Rowland and Letoya Luckett, this old bandit don’t want no other Black artist to stand out on their own besides her.
I bet you Rih saw this coming and made her move, that’s why Jayz is mad as hell at her. No wonder why Rih help out Chris Breezy, no matter what happens Chris will be there for her and stand by Rih’s side. She saw Jayz true colors .This explains it all as to why she took such a big career risk on doing those remix songs with Chris. That bitch clap right back at JayZ.She pull a big dick move, no wonder why Rihanna tweeted she will never fold under the pressure.Win or loose Rih going out swinging, that why I love this girl she is a true to herself ,she’s got determination and good heart which is all you need to survive.Rih hun if you ever read this you got my money and support all they way, this navy seal going down with the ship.G4L

More than likely this song will blow up, because god knows all these internet A and R’s knows the business and what works. lmfao The song will work real well in the UK market, which is why it’s strictly a UK release.

Why do yall want to cast her as a Rihanna 2.0 so bad? This sounds like nothing on Rated R. And Party & Bullshit sounds like NOTHING Rihanna has done. I don’t get it.

I love the song. TINIE is HUGE in the UK, hence him being on this, it’s her UK single. Roc Nation knows what they are doing. This will be big over there. Party & Bulshit will be big over here. Haters will just have to deal.

Interesting how she went from the pop-delight “P&B.S.” to the ever so dark “R.I.P.”! Clearly you can see Management are confused on how to market her!

    [Reply]

    Triniti Reply:

@Billionaire, How about you sit back and let them worry about this little theory of yours. They aren’t marketing your dumb ass…

And let’s not forget Rihanna’s decline into Darkness. Who the hell goes from “Pon De Replay” to “Russian Roulette?”

    Billionaire Reply:

@Triniti, Thank You for pointing that out because i knew there would be a jack ass that would! This Lady (Rita) is a new artist, therefore switching up your before being established in American yet Globally shows that they (MGMT Team) are experimenting & trying to see which audience will she appeal to vice-versa! This is why i said her team (RocNation) is confused about her. Since you brought Rihanna into this, it took Rihanna 3 LPs in & chris assault before making dark music not when she first started!

Instead of being a follower & listen to, i will continue to voice my opinion with a refreshing taste of the facts/truth! Catch a clue clueless!

Disappointed. She’s not getting the music that fits her style or voice. Her vocals are amazing but they don’t fit this type of song. In all honesty it sounds like a Rihanna record from like 08-09. Not comparing them because they are two totally different artist but i feel like that who Roc Nation is trying to make her to be… another Rihanna.

    [Reply]

    xsye itwtrtez Reply:

@asa, don’t think that Roc Nation is trying to make Rita O to be another Rihanna @ all.

    [Reply]

    Billionaire Reply:

@asa, You’re right about RocNation’s mission ever since Rihanna collaborated with Chris Brown on two records, Jay-z caught feelings & decided to rush Rita into the public eye so that i’m guessing ppl will flock to her since there’s similarities when it comes to the looks & style, being spiteful of what Rihanna did which he clearly hasn’t thought this through & poor Rita having to sample records that clearly has a Rihanna or Katy Perry essence to it! You’re right, you wouldn’t be thinking it if it wasn’t apparent!

Why do ya’ll act like there is room for a handful of artist in the business. Are ya’ll really that petty that ya’ll can’t like two artist at once, even though Rita and Rihanna style are nothing alike.

As for the other nonsense, i think fans need to stop acting like ya’ll know more than these labels in how to market an artist.

The verses sound WAY too Rihanna like. I like Rita Ora so i hope she gets the chance to create her OWN lane cause this wont help the Rih comparisons.

When she sang her cover of ‘Somebody that i used to know’ i was speechless. So much soul in her voice that she deserves better songs. Not somebodies crumbs. Rih would have sounded hot on this. Rita deserves better.

the song was written for her not for rihanna so dont understand where this story came from…drake put her in his over video ages ago and later this demo leaked…anyway they should’ve kept drakes verse on this he went in on the demo version…chase and status done good with the guitar riffs and overall production…tinie’s on it so it goes straight to number 1 in the uk…they used him as a cash cow
