The Weeknd Announces Deal with Universal Republic, Preps ‘Trilogy’ Album

The Weeknd

After building buzz with his mixtapes and touring with Drake, The Weeknd is taking the next step in his career. The Canadian singer-songwriter and his XO label have entered a deal with Universal Republic.

His first release will be Trilogy on November 13. The project will feature mixed and mastered versions of songs off his popular mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence.

Additionally, unreleased material will be included on the album, with “Wicked Games” serving as the first official release.

The Weeknd will launch a fall tour on September 21 in Chicago, with shows scheduled for Hollywood, Miami, Atlanta, New York, and his hometown of Toronto on November 2 and 3.

I do wonder will it have every song from the last 3 releases or just a mix?

@Trey, not to be sarcastic but trilogy implies all 3

I’ve been riding For The Weeknd for years now!!! Sooo rooting for him. I was rooting so hard for him that I even discounted Frank and what he was doing musically. Big mistake. R&B is being revived by a generation that is delivering it the way they know it and is relevant today. Miguel, Dawn Richard, Jhene Aiko, Frank Ocean and The Weeknd all have the hottest mixtapes/albums right now. AND IT ALL STARTED WITHOUT THEM BEING SIGNED.
