« Behind the Video: Future f/ Kelly Rowland – ‘Neva End (Remix)’Tracklisting: Big Boi – ‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’ »Rihanna Set to Make Her Biggest Chart Debut with ‘Unapologetic’![]() That Rihanna reign just won’t let up. The pop superstar is set to make her biggest debut yet on the charts with her seventh album Unapologetic.
According to chart pundits HITS Daily Double, RiRi is on track to sell between 240-260k in her first week, which would most likely put her at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200. The numbers would also give her the largest first-week of her career, topping 2010’s Loud, which opened with 207k copies. The album has spawned the chart-topping single “Diamonds” and collaborations with Eminem, Chris Brown, and Future. Other new entries include Keyshia Cole, whose fifth album Woman to Woman is looking at 75-85k, while Pitbull’s Global Warming is approaching 35-40k. Also look for Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up when final figures are released next week. TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 96 CommentsLeave a Reply

This is why Taylor Swift sells a milli in one week…In the urban (minority) community we create a competition that does not need to exist. Would it pain us to support both RiRi and Bey? Seriously. It pisses me off that we feel the need to pledge allegiance to an artist in a way that blinds us from supporting one of our own. Especially when they are both two very different artist. Why is there so much need to claim who is better? Why can’t they both be great?
Oh wells…I guess we’ll continue to let Taylor Swift shit on every urban pop and R&B artist because we’re to busy bitching with one another instead of collectively buying the albums together and enjoying the music together and being proud of our own together, and ultimately loving our cultures music together.

@MmmHmm, you know what, when you look at the whole picture, having a #1 album doesnt even matter. Many artist album go #1 selling less than 150k. Rihanna sales have been consistant and she continues to grow each time. The fact that she can put an album everyone year and her sales grow shows how in demand she is. Rihannas career has been progressive, unlike Kesha cole and ciara whose career has been regressive, starting off huge and absolutle irrelivant today.

Why are people making fun of because it took her 7 albums to get number. Her albums debut sales are bigger than some other artist who had number one 1st week. It all depends on your competition, not numbers. And since when did album sales equal quality. I’m not a Rihanna fan, ijs.

I thought the album was very off balanced. It seems the more provocative she gets the more she is able to put out. I did not purchase this album because I found it to be lyrically weak and sonic-ally awkward. I am shocked the album is predicted to sell that much. Good job for Rihanna. I just hope after this she takes a good long break and just takes time to compose herself to a more mature artist for her 8th album. Plus I would like some songs of substance, similar to her album “Rated R”, which was her best album in my opinion.

The album is all hype no substance save 1 or 2 songs. The lyrics are incredibly weak. Aside from being a “bad girl”, a model, provocative, and being overly hyped by her label and fans, what is her true artistic value from a musical standpoint? What does she contribute MUSICALLY to this industry? She’s not a great singer, not a songwriter/producer…so what is her purpose. I get the appeal, what I don’t get is why the taste of music consumers is so freaking low.

@KingAquarius, Why would rihanna have to contribute something to the industry?
but since you asked, musically rihanna shows how you can consistently change your style and the types of genres you sing while still maintaining a good fan base and keeping consistent album sales, and exceeding in single sales, while becoming the biggest digital artist which means more digital sales than any other artist, the fastest one to gather more #1s, and yes this has to do with music and the industry because it is her music that acomplished all of this, and she is just 24.

Not to mention her WW sales are out of this WORLD, set to go over 1M in just two weeks. (Something that Beyonce has NEVER, EVER DONE)

I for one am not going to stand around and let this drain on real music and talent secure a number one cd. I just won’t let it happen. This age of talentless singers needs to end and I’m starting today with this cd. I’m going to campaign and market for One Direction so they can have the number 1 cd, two weeks in a row and Rihanna gets a #2 cd. I’m not even a fan of One Direction but at least they can sing. If my data is right they will sell at minimum 161,588 copies but I’m also thinking that they will be added to Black Friday Christmas baskets. Here’s to protecting music’s creditability! Hope there are people with me and they make these boys sell more than 162,000 and outsell one of music’s biggest frauds and reason for the decline in real R&B.

That nude pictures give a lot of attention to Rihanna and sure it helps boost her sales. Well, we have the fact that this is her first nude album cover and it’s gonna have the best debut sales so…
And the debut sales doesn’t matter, and #1 are easily forgotten. All RiRi albums are platinum (as far as I know), that means a lot of sales. That what really matters for me. You can give me all the #1 albums and singles, or 20 grammies, or call me “King of Music” by Billboard or RollingStones, but what I actually want is sales, a lot of sales.
I don’t see how a Grammy can feed me, neither #1 albums…
