August Alsina comes clean on “Benediction,” the second single off his forthcoming debut Testimony. The 21-year-old singer shares how he survived life on the streets of New Orleans and pays tribute to his late brother on the soulful, yet gritty number, which features a verse from Rick Ross.

“But I made it and I made me / I know I did wrong, I prayed to God he would save me / ‘Cause I made it, it didn’t kill me, so it made me stronger / I pray to God that you feel me,” he sings.

August’s full-length album Testimony drops April 15 featuring appearances from Fabolous, Pusha T, Yo Gotti, and Jeezy.

Listen to him bless the beat.
