'Empire's' Hakeem and Timbaland Team Up on 'Dynasty'

  /  10.05.2015

Part of the thrill of following “Empire” has been watching songs from the show take off as hits in real life, like “Drip Drop” last season. Now, the youngest Lyon, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray aka Yazz the Greatest) comes for the throne on “Dynasty” (via Complex).

The song was produced by Timbaland—he provides hypnotic woodblocks and pounding low-end. In the episode, which airs Wednesday, Hakeem manages to seize control of his album, which Lucious’ Empire Entertainment had withheld. He takes shots at his father’s company on the track, boasting, “I’m yelling Empire’s over, Dynasty taking over.”

Just last week, Yazz and Timbaland debuted another collaboration called “Bout 2 Blow.”

“Empire” continues to bring in the ratings with 13.7 million viewers last week.
