J. Cole Secretly Marries

  /  01.18.2016

The secret’s out — J. Cole is a married man.

The Dreamville rapper was forced to reveal the big news during an interview for the #MLKNow livestream (via Complex), which was held in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Creed director Ryan Coogler surprised viewers when he accidentally asked Cole, “How did getting married change you?” But what he didn’t realize is that the marriage hadn’t been publicly announced.

Cole was visibly caught off guard. “Oh, what is that?!” he said before awkwardly laughing it off. “That was like one thing to not do.”

“Nobody knows?” asked Coogler, to which Cole replied, “Well, they know now.”

The lucky woman is Cole’s longtime girlfriend Melissa Heholt. The couple met while both were attending St. John’s University in Queens, New York. There had been rumors that the two were engaged, but their nuptials were kept secret until now.

Watch the accidental announcement below.
