New Music: G-Eazy - 'Maximum'

  /  05.22.2017

G-Eazy takes it to the “Maximum.”

After releasing his Step Brothers EP in March, Young Gerald aims at the president once again on his latest loose cut, produced by 9th Wonder.

“Fuck Donald Trump,” he raps over the soulful production. “I took a shit that look just like him / I wish McGregor and Mayweather could like, just fight him / That part’s for real though, I mean it, I’m not just writing.”

It isn’t all serious, however. On a lighter note, G-Eazy recounts an encounter he claims to have had with one of the world’s most famous supermodels. “When I met Adriana Lima, I swear I heard her fart,” he raps. “That’s when my plans changed, from my mission to steal her heart / To covering my nose with my shirt and walking away awkwardly.”

The three-minute track is a free-flowing exercise that also finds Gerald tipping his hat to Eminem. “They say I can’t rap about coke no more,” he says, before making a sniffing sound. “Okay, that’s the last time, I’m ’bout to focus more.” Of course, that’s a reference to Eminem’s “Kill You” off 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP.

After releasing the track, Gerald tweeted: “Just for fun… to hold you over… album coming soon…”

How soon? That remains to be seen, but at the Billboard Music Awards last night, G-Eazy said that he was “99 percent” done with the follow-up to 2015’s When It’s Dark Out.
