Pusha-T Drops New Album 'Daytona' Featuring Kanye West and Rick Ross

The time has come. Ahead of new releases from Kanye West and Teyana Taylor, G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha-T steps to the plate with his third solo album Daytona.

Over a year in the making, the 7-track follow-up to 2015’s King Push — Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude was produced entirely by Kanye West, who also makes an appearance on “What Would Meek Do?” while Rick Ross guests on “Hard Piano.” The song “Infrared” also features a thinly-veiled Drake diss: “It was written like Nas, but it came from Quentin [Miller].”

Daytona was recorded in the mountains of Wyoming, and is the first G.O.O.D. Music release to come from those sessions. “Daytona is the first project out of Wyoming,” tweeted Kanye. “I’m really proud of what we put together. We’ve spent a year and a half digging for samples and writing. I really appreciate the overwhelmingly positive response that we’ve been receiving.”

In addition to handling production, West chose the controversial artwork for the cover. The tabloid photo of Whitney Houston’s bathroom, covered in drug paraphernalia, reportedly cost $85,000 to license and was a last-minute addition.

Daytona, which Pusha has called the “album of the year” and “flawless,” was formerly titled King Push. “I changed the album title from King Push to Daytona because I felt it didn’t represent the overall message of this body of work,” he explained. “Daytona represents the fact that I have the luxury of time. That luxury only comes when u have a skill set that your confident in.”
