Mary J. Blige

On Thursday evening (June 17), the music and philanthropy worlds happily collided as Mary J. Blige and her famous friends stepped out to honor some amazing women who are involved with FFAWN (The Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now).

At the elegant Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, supportive stars toasted MJB and music mogul Steve Stoute, who heads up the organization that provides support, financially and emotionally, for young women striving for their greatest educational and career potential.

Amidst crystal champagne glasses, couture cocktail gowns, and Gucci loafers (we see you, Idris Elba), Mary spoke about her rough past, history with drugs, and then praised her husband Kendu Isaacs, and her business partner Stoute, who she says, “never judged me, but helped when I not only needed FFAWN, but straight up needed help.”

Robin Thicke, Jazmine Sullivan, and ELEW closed the decadent evening with sexy, sultry, and uplifting performances. Also in attendance, and the epitome of summer chic, were Taraji P. Henson, Queen Latifah, Shontelle, Andre Harrell, Melanie Fiona, and Rob Thomas.
