Chrisette Michele

On the one-year anniversary of her passing, Chrisette Michele pays homage to Whitney Houston by covering her 1987 hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” as part of Billboard’s week-long tribute to the late legend. Accompanied by Guitar Slayer, the R&B songstress puts her own acoustic spin on the dance record.

“I study her DVDs,” said Chrisette. “Literally the way footballers take notes before the Super Bowl, I’ll watch a Whitney show before I go onstage.”

Chrisette’s fourth album Better is due this spring featuring the single “A Couple of Forevers.”
