Meek Mill Defends Rick Ross' Rape Lyrics

Meek Mill and Rick Ross

Rick Ross is still facing pressure from the public and women’s rights groups for his questionable lyrics about rape on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” But not everyone is against him. His protégé Meek Mill has come to his defense.

During an interview with the Urban Informer, the Maybach Music MC brushed off the controversy.

“I don’t even care about nobody criticizing no lyrics,” said Meek, whose mixtape Dreamchasers 3 drops May 6. “People rap about killing stuff all day. Biggie said, ‘Rape your kid. Throw her over the bridge.’ It was nothing, it was just hip-hop.”

He attacked blogs for publicizing it and said it’s just part of hip-hop culture. “Now you got all these weirdos on these social sites voicing their opinion about something anybody say. I don’t care. I’m from the ‘hood. I never really cared about what nobody say in no rap. Rap’s always been talking about killing, drugs, all types of stuff.”

According to Meek, the lyrics are not to be taken seriously. “It’s imaginary visual. If a writer write about somebody getting raped in a movie, that mean he a rapist or he want girls to get raped? No, he just wrote about that in a movie.”

Ross issued an apology on Twitter last week. “I dont condone rape.Apologies for the #lyric interpreted as rape. #BOSS,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, protesters are still demanding that Reebok drop the rapper over the lyrics. “Every single day that Reebok continues rewarding Rick Ross with a lucrative endorsement deal, Reebok is condoning rape,” said women’s rights group UltraViolet.
