The wait is almost over. After several delays, Chris Brown’s X has an official release date.

The R&B superstar will drop his long-awaited sixth album on September 16, he announced on Instagram.

The follow-up to 2012’s Fortune was originally due in July 2013, but was pushed back several times because of Brown’s legal issues and jail sentence.

X has spawned the platinum hit “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga, and the follow-up “New Flame” with Usher and Rick Ross. A video for the latter is set to premiere this month.

He has also collaborated with Nicki Minaj (“Love More”), Kendrick Lamar (“Autumn Leaves”), Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Wiz Khalifa, and B.o.B., as well as producers Timbaland, Diplo, Polow Da Don, Danja, Pharrell, and Drumma Boy.

“I been through a lot in my life. Made a lot of mistakes along the way,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “But through it all I’ve always been true to myself and through God I’ve been able to take care of my family! I should regret some things but I think the lessons learned will shape me into a real man. I’m grateful and appreciative! Thank you for life!”

Additionally, he is set to appear on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album I Changed A Lot and Fabolous’ Loso’s Way 2.
