D'Angelo and The Vanguard Announce 'Second Coming Tour'
D’Angelo is taking the show on the road. The R&B veteran has announced dates for “The Second Coming Tour.”
The 14-city U.S. trek kicks off June 7 in Oakland, Calif., and plays cities including Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Philadelphia, before wrapping June 28 in Sayreville, New Jersey. The itinerary also includes a stop at Bonnaroo on June 13. Tickets for most of the dates go on sale May 1 at 10 a.m. local time.

D’Angelo will be accompanied by his band, The Vanguard, which includes The Who bassist Pino Palladino, guitarists Jesse Johnson and Isaiah Sharkey, drummer Chris “Daddy” Dave, keyboardist Cleo “Pookie” Sample, and vocalists Kendra Foster, Charlie “Red” Middleton, and Jermain Holmes.
The tour comes in support of D’Angelo’s first album in nearly 15 years, Black Messiah, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in December.
Earlier this year, D’Angelo made a rare TV appearance on “SNL” and played a show at Harlem’s Apollo Theater before embarking on a brief European tour.
