Jennifer Lopez Addresses Rumored Feud with Mariah Carey

  /  03.03.2016

Jennifer Lopez is on a promo blitz. Fresh off her appearances on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Shades of Blue” star paid a return visit to “The Wendy Williams Show” this week to speak on her Las Vegas residency, love life, and alleged beef with fellow Vegas entertainer Mariah Carey.

Rumors of a feud began when Carey was asked about Lopez in the early aughts. “I don’t know her,” Mariah infamously said. That became a meme and running joke, and it’s something Williams spoke to J.Lo about on Thursday (Feb. 3).

“She does say that. She’s forgetful, I guess,” Lopez said. “I don’t know. We’ve met many times. I don’t know. I don’t know her that well.”

Last year, J.Lo spoke about the perceived beef on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live.” “I don’t have a feud against her at all,” she said. “I know from back in the day, I’ve read things that she’s said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don’t know each other. I think it’s kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I’m not really aware of. But I don’t know.”

On her relationship with boyfriend Casper Smart: “Everything’s good.”

On being misunderstood: “People have a lot of different ideas about me until they meet me in person because of what people write and things people say, some true, many untrue. So when they meet me, they don’t know what to think.”

On “American Idol”: “Shows that are on 15 years, it doesn’t happen every day. Everything that it was about, it’s about dreams, supporting each other, and everything positive. I love music. I love being able to help other people, and give them advice and knowledge that I have from being in the business, it’s nice being able to share that. It was just a great experience for me.”

On her Las Vegas residency: “I love it. It was a dream. When I think of Vegas, I think of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and all these iconic performers.”

On other residencies: “Before I even signed my deal to go to Vegas, when they were offering it to me…I went and saw a bunch of shows, and I saw everybody. I didn’t see Mariah because at the time, she wasn’t playing. She hadn’t started yet.”
