G-Eazy and Logic Bring 'Endless Summer Tour' to L.A.'s Forum

  /  07.08.2016

G-Eazy and Logic turned one night at The Forum into an “Endless Summer.”

On Wednesday (Jul. 6), the rappers stopped in Inglewood, Calif. along with Yo Gotti and local hero YG, who hails from nearby Compton (or as he prefers to call it, Bompton). Together, they filled the former house of the Los Angeles Lakers with what any great summer night should entail: fun vibes and a whole lot of music.

But for the night’s closer, G-Eazy, this was more than just any ordinary show. It was also a dream come true. At one point during his set, Young Gerald stopped the music to recall days when he would open for Lil Wayne early on in his career. He said “crickets” would greet him nightly back then, but none of that mattered.

“I would close my eyes,” he said. “I would see some shit like this because I always dreamed of having that shit…That’s why I can’t take this shit for granted.”

Throughout his set, G proved that with energetic pacing, running across the stage like a kid living out his dream. Backed by a live band and a big budget backdrop, he packed the show with tracks like this year’s “In the Meantime” and 2014’s “Far Alone” and “Tumblr Girls.” But perhaps the most potent moment came when YG joined him for the premiere of their “FDT” remix.

“How’d he make it this far?” asks G-Eazy. “How the f**k did it begin? / A Trump rally sounds like Hitler in Berlin / Or KKK shit, now I’m going in / Just saying what’s real, give a f**k who I offend.”

Before Gerald hit the stage, co-headliner Logic appeared. Also in front of huge screens that projected dazzling effects, Young Sinatra launched into “Contact” off The Incredible True Story. Fans went nuts for joints like “Deeper Than Money” and “Fade Away,” while the Visionary MC projected video game and space-inspired imagery. Things got particularly poppin’ when he performed “Flexicution” off his surprise mixtape Bobby Tarantino.

The “Endless Summer Tour,” which also features Nef the Pharaoh and Kamaiyah, runs through early August.
