SZA Says She 'Quits,' Blasts TDE for Album Delay

Is SZA quitting the music biz?

The Top Dawg Entertainment songstress made the surprising announcement today (Oct. 3), revealing that her album has been held up by her label, namely TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson.

“I actually quit,” SZA wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “@iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it . Y’all be blessed.”

SZA Quits

Punch has yet to directly respond to the tweet. However, shortly after her post was published, he shared an image of Heath Ledger’s Joker laughing with “Lol” as a caption.

In March, Punch praised SZA’s upcoming project during an interview with Billboard.

“Her project is bananas right now,” he said. “It’s phenomenal. Between her last album and this one, there’s so much clarity in her vocals and her tone. It’s much more deliberate than it was on [Z]. There was a lot of ambient, vibe-y, moody type sounding records [on that album]. With this one, she’s giving you her, with a level of clarity that you haven’t heard from her yet.”

In 2012, SZA released her debut EP, See.SZA.Run. After joining TDE in 2013, she released that year’s S and 2014’s Z. Her forthcoming project, A, is still awaiting a release date.
