Kodak Black Sentenced to One Year in Jail

  /  05.04.2017

Kodak Black will be serving more time behind bars.

The “Tunnel Vision” rapper was sentenced to 364 days in jail for violating the terms of his house arrest. But he could be released in about a month if he completes a life skills course and gets credit for time served, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Appearing in court on Thursday afternoon (May 4), the 19-year-old rapper, born Dieuson Octave, apologized to his mother after hearing her break down in tears outside the courtroom last week. “It pierced my heart,” he said.

The Broward state attorney wanted Black to spend eight years in prison for violating the terms of his house arrest, which stemmed from his visit to a Miami strip club and an Ohio boxing match without authorization from his probation officer.

Black has been in the Broward Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale since Feb. 28.

As a result of the sentence, Black was removed from Future’s “Nobody Safe Tour.” His debut album Painting Pictures is currently No. 16 on the Billboard 200 after debuting at No. 3 last month.
