Chance the Rapper & Vic Mensa Reunite at Lollapalooza
Friends-turned-foes Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa are putting their differences aside. The Chicago rappers squashed their beef and reunited on stage at Lollapalooza in their hometown on Saturday (Aug. 5).
Victor joined Chano during his headlining set for a special performance of “Cocoa Butter Kisses” off 2013’s Acid Rap. He stayed on to perform “Say I Didn’t,” the intro off his debut album, The Autobiography. Calling him his “brother,” Chance stood next to him for the set.
The Windy City twosome met in high school and collaborated on a series of tracks throughout the early parts of their careers, including “K-Swiss,” “Steamer,” and “Family.” Eventually, the Savemoney duo had a falling out, resulting in Mensa cropping Chance out of a photo with JAY-Z and Beyoncé.

Nevertheless, it seems the feud is over. Chance marked the release of The Autobiography with a celebratory post on Instagram. “Me & Vic met at a high school open mic when we were 14,” he wrote. “We’ve been on this journey for along time. This is much bigger than a moment THIS IS MY BROTHERS DEBUT ALBUM. I’ve decided I’m waiting til it drops to listen. I’ve been through a lot with him but I want to hear it told in his words.”
Shortly afterwards, Mensa spoke with Rap-Up about the reconciliation, which may include a future collaboration. “I go back really, really far with Chance,” he said. “We grew up together so I’m excited for him to hear this album because he was around for a lot of the things I talk about and it’s always interesting when somebody is in your life, but maybe doesn’t know the details, they just see flashes and maybe hear bits and pieces from other people. So, I’d be interested to hear his comments.”
Lolla continues with its fourth and final day today. Featuring performances by Machine Gun Kelly, 6LACK, Joey Bada$$, and Noname, the event will be headlined by Arcade Fire, Justice, and Big Sean.
