Playboi Carti goes from rockstar to prisoner in the video for “wokeuplikethis*.”

Shot inside of a prison, the visual depicts life behind bars and on the yard, with a shirtless Cardi acting as its star. But the jailhouse imagery is only part of the full clip.

Lil Uzi Vert pops up in a dark room during his verse. Holding two Uzis to match his name, the “XO TOUR Llif3” MC spits his rhymes alongside Cash Carti before the visual transitions back to the prison.

For the finale, the cells are unlocked and the inmates are freed. As alarms blare around him, Carti remains stoic. In between scenes of potential freedom, the rising MC is smoking, holding cash, and dancing along to his newest banger.

“wokeuplikethis*” has become Carti’s second-highest charting single to date behind “Magnolia.” While the latter peaked at No. 29, “wokeup” currently sits at No. 76. Both can be found on the XXL Freshman’s self-titled debut.
