French Montana, Rae Sremmurd, & Rita Ora Perform at Teen Choice Awards

  /  08.14.2017

French Montana, Rae Sremmurd, Rita Ora, Lil Yachty, and KYLE were just some of the big names to grace the Teen Choice Awards 2017 stage on Sunday (Aug. 13), live from Los Angeles’ Galen Center.

True to the show’s California setting, SuperDuperKyle and Lil Boat kicked off the program with a beach-inspired “iSpy” performance. The guys were joined by a team of dancers for a set that included fun choreography and beach ball excitement. All of this led up to KYLE’s now-famous crowd-surfing on a surfboard, an appropriate finale for his set.

As KYLE surfed his way offstage, Yachty kicked off his protest-themed performance of “Forever Young.” While he rhymed his way through the crowd of fans, the King of the Teens was joined by a group of teens with “For the Youth” picket signs.

As if that wasn’t enough, Rita Ora kept the show going with “Your Song.” Backed by television sets, the British songstress finished off the opening number with a crew of dancers going in and out of frozen positions with old school b-boy flavor.

Later, French Montana fully embraced his Jungle Rules theme with a dance-filled set for the Swae Lee-assisted “Unforgettable.” Backed by beautiful trees, the guys were also supported by the energetic, charismatic, and adorable Triplets Ghetto Kids from Uganda.

Swae Lee didn’t go anywhere after “Unforgettable” and instead, he joined forces with Slim Jxmmi for an all-out peace-themed party with “Black Beatles.” Energized by the crowd and dancers onstage, the guys closed out their crowd-pleasing set with a sea of applause.

Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha, Clean Bandit, and Zara Larsson were among the night’s other performers. Elsewhere, Beyoncé won Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist, Chance the Rapper earned Choice Breakout Artist, and DJ Khaled took home Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song for “I’m the One.”
