Cash rules. Jennifer Lopez brought her money moves to the Billboard Music Awards with the first performance of her new single “Dinero.”
Perched in the middle of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, DJ Khaled kicked things off surrounded by a gold lion and stacks of cash before J.Lo opened the vault. Dressed in all white with slicked-back hair, J.Lo sang her bilingual money-making anthem surrounded by a team of dancers. The Vegas showgirl, who has a residency on the Strip, turned into a gangster for the thrilling finale as Khaled threw J.Lo-branded money into the crowd.
Cardi B, who is featured on the song, was unable to make it due to her pregnancy, but she appeared via video to spit her verse. During a red carpet interview with E! News, J.Lo praised her fellow Bronx native.
“She’s been grinding away for a while. Things don’t happen overnight. She is a hard worker and from working with her, I know that,” she said. “She knows who she is and she is unabashedly herself. People love that. They love authenticity. That’s what I loved about her. I loved her before she started rapping. I used to follow her on Instagram and thought this girl is so real. I found out she was from the Bronx. Then, the record came along. I thought to myself, she is so perfect for this.”
The official video for “Dinero” featuring Cardi B and DJ Khaled is set to premiere Thursday.
