Kanye West to Perform on 'SNL' Premiere

  /  09.17.2018

Kanye West is coming back to “SNL.”

The rapper has been announced as the first musical guest of Season 44, which kicks off Sept. 29. BlacKkKlansman star Adam Driver will serve as host during the episode, the show announced on Twitter.

West has a love-hate relationship with “SNL.” He has served as musical guest seven times. His last performance was in February 2016, when he performed “Black Skinhead” and “Ultralight Beam” off The Life of Pablo. During the live broadcast, he reportedly had a meltdown backstage, which was caught on tape, and threatened to walk off the show.

The performance arrives on the heels of Kanye’s latest hit “I Love It” with Lil Pump, which debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. His album ye opened atop the Billboard 200 in June, becoming his eighth consecutive No. 1 on the chart.
