Chris Brown Close to Settling Lawsuit with Former Manager

  /  05.13.2019

Chris Brown is working towards a settlement with his former manager, who accused him of assault and battery.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the singer and his ex-manager, Mike G., have asked to postpone the trial, which was scheduled to start June 5. A judge granted the request and gave a new start date of Oct. 11.

The case has been dragging on for years, but the lawsuit is now moving forward. The two plan to work out a deal to end their legal battle in the next couple of months.

In 2016, Mike G. sued Brown, accusing him of false imprisonment, assault, battery, defamation, and breach of contract. He claimed Brown punched him without provocation in early 2016 and that he had to be hospitalized as a result of the attack. Brown also accused Mike G of stealing money, which the manager denied.

Mike G. was hired in 2012 to help rehabilitate Brown’s image following the Rihanna assault that landed him in jail.

Earlier this year, Brown was sanctioned for refusing to turn over key evidence in the case to Mike G. The judge ordered him to pay $1,760 and turn over all documents.
