Family of YNW Melly's Alleged Victim Supports Death Penalty

  /  06.02.2019

The family of one of YNW Melly’s alleged victims is speaking out in his double murder case.

The “Murder on My Mind” rapper is facing two counts of first-degree murder stemming from the October 2018 shooting of his friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy). Now the family of Williams says that if Melly is convicted, they would support the death penalty, a stance they’re taking despite their past relationship with the accused.

“If the state of Florida feels the death penalty is warranted in this case then we 100% fully support it,” the Williams family tells TMZ through their attorneys at Steinger, Greene & Feiner.

The 20-year-old rapper remains in a South Florida jail as he awaits trial. Cops say Melly and his friend Cortlen Henry (YNW Bortlen) shot Williams and Thomas, and staged the crime to make it seem like their friends were killed during a drive-by shooting. Prosecutors have previously said they will seek the death penalty.

Prior to the incident, the Williams family had a close relationship with Melly and treated him like he was one of their own. The name “Jana” is even tattooed on Melly’s neck in honor of Williams’ mother, which is seen in his mug shot photo.

However, the family feels no sympathy. “YNW Melly should feel the exact fear and panic he so viciously and consciously brought upon his innocent victims,” adds Williams’ attorneys.

Melly recently filed documents requesting release on bail. Last month, he told fans that he remains hopeful that he will be coming home. “I just want to let all my fans know that God is real,” he said during a phone call from behind bars. “He has cleansed my soul, he has blessed me tremendously. […] He’s the reason I’m coming home.”
