Lil Baby Confronts Police Brutality on New Song

  /  06.04.2020

Lil Baby is using his voice to raise awareness.

After days of protests across the country following the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer, the Atlanta rapper is addressing the police violence and racism on a new song. Taking to Instagram Stories, he shared a brief snippet of the powerful track.

“I find it crazy that police will shoot you and know that you dead, but then tell you to freeze,” raps Lil Baby in the 14-second clip. “Fu**ed up, I seen what I seen / I guess that mean hold him down if he say he can’t breathe / There’s too many mothers that’s grieving.”

It’s unclear when he plans to release the song in full, but he has been using his platform for change. He announced that he is working with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on a special project for justice reform.

“United We Stand Divided We Fall ! In Favor Of Atlanta Mayor @keishabottoms Me And EVERY TEAM I’m associated with are putting a plan together for Atlanta to the whole world,” said Baby.

Last month, he released a deluxe edition of his album My Turn. The chart-topping project, which features Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and Young Thug, is currently No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after selling 65,000 equivalent album units last week.
