DMX Mural Unveiled in Yonkers

  /  07.13.2021

DMX’s hometown is paying tribute to him.

On Tuesday morning, a Yonkers community unveiled a mural near the Calcagno public housing complex on School Street where DMX once lived. The mural, which measures 35 feet by 22 feet, was designed by NYC artist Floyd Simmons and took a little over two weeks to complete.

According to CBS New York, the mural was part of a restoration project on an existing mural, and residents asked that the restoration include a tribute to DMX.

DMX’s family including his fiancée Desiree Lindstrom were on hand for the unveiling.

The mural includes lyrics from several DMX songs including “School Street,” “That’s My Dog,” and “Look Thru My Eyes.”

DMX, born Earl Simmons, died on April 9 at age 50 from a cocaine-induced heart attack that caused a lack of blood circulation to his brain.
