Mariah Battles Paramore for No. 1

  /  09.30.2009

Mariah Carey

Early sales reports for Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel are in.

The 12th studio album from Carey is on track to move 160-170,000 units in its first week based on one-day sales, reports Hits Daily Double. This would give the pop diva a No. 2 debut. She faces competition from punk-rock band Paramore, who is approaching the No. 1 spot with their third effort Brand New Eyes (180-190,000).

If those numbers prove accurate, the “Obsessed” singer would have her lowest first week since 2001’s Glitter (116,000).

Can MC inch out Paramore for the top spot? Six more days to go before the final numbers are in.
