In advance of the January 1 premiere of her docu-series “Totally T-Boz,” Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins stopped by KTLA to speak about facing death, battling a brain tumor and sickle-cell anemia, and getting her career back on track.

The 42-year-old TLC member had to undergo a 7-hour surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor, but she wasn’t afraid. “In my life, God has the last say-so,” said T-Boz. “I was the calmest I have ever been in my life that morning. I didn’t feel anything, but that was my prayer.”

Following the surgery, she underwent three years of physical therapy and learned to regain her sight, speech, and balance. “As soon as I got my speech right, I started singing again, straight to the studio.”

The TLC show, which documents her personal and professional life, will be relatable. “It’s just about real life and having fun, that chick you wanna chill with at home, but by the way, this is what’s going on in my life.”
