Drake and Jay Z

Drake is calling on a couple of his idols for Nothing Was the Same. Jay Z and Lil Wayne are both set to make appearances on the Canadian MC’s third album.

According to Rolling Stone, Drake has collaborated with the rap titans along with Scottish DJ/producer Hudson Mohawke.

“This album is about growth,” he tells the magazine. “When I play it for people, they ask, ‘Who’s that rapping?’ I’m like, ‘That’s me.'”

The follow-up to 2011’s Take Care has already spawned the inspirational anthem “Started From the Bottom” as well as the top 10 single “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”

Another highlight is the emotional “Connect.” “That one hits you in the heart,” says Drake. “It’s painful and beautiful at the same time.”

Nothing Was the Same is due Sept. 17.
