Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill is returning to the stage. The Fugees frontwoman will perform her first shows since being released from prison later this month in New York.

The intimate concerts will take place back-to-back at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 27. There will be an early show at 6 p.m. followed by a second performance at 10:30 p.m.

Standing room tickets cost $100 and are on sale now at Ticketmaster.

Following her release from prison in early October, Ms. Hill has been confined to three months of home detention as part of her sentence. According to TMZ, she is planning to tour in the coming months.

On the eve of her release, she debuted a new song called “Consumerism,” inspired by her recent experiences.

“I felt the need to discuss the underlying socio-political, cultural paradigm as I saw it,” she wrote in an open letter to her fans.

UPDATE: Ms. Hill has announced five additional dates for her “Homecoming” concert series.

Dec. 15 – Washington, DC – 9:30 Club
Dec. 18 – Boston, MA – Le Royale
Dec. 22 – Red Bank, NJ – Count Basie Theatre
Dec. 26 – Huntington, NY – The Paramount
Dec. 28 – Port Chester, NY – The Capitol Theatre
