Charles Hamilton and Rita Ora Team Up in 'New York Raining' Trailer

  /  04.08.2015

While protesters march for “Black Lives Matter,” Charles Hamilton leads his own demonstration in the cinematic video for “New York Raining.” In the black-and-white trailer, the Harlem rapper plays a Black Panther during the civil rights era. While he types a letter to his lover from behind bars, there are flashbacks of him protesting for equal rights and clashing with police, mixed with romantic scenes and a quick cameo from Rita Ora.

“We understood the struggle would be dangerous. I’m just sorry that our relationship was a sacrifice,” he tells his girl Patricia.

The song, which appears on the “Empire” soundtrack, is the first single off Charles’ upcoming debut album.

Over the weekend, Charles and Rita performed the song together on the U.K. finale of “The Voice.”
