Kendrick Lamar Calls Lil Wayne 'The Greatest'

  /  03.16.2016

Kendrick Lamar pays homage to the greats. Whether rapping with Jay Z on the remix to “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” or featuring Tupac Shakur on “Mortal Man,” K-Dot is known to celebrate the legends that came before him.

In his latest interview with The Coveteur, the Compton spitter reveals why another hip-hop heavyweight, Lil Wayne, is “the greatest.”

“We was just huge, still to this day, huge Lil Wayne fans,” said Lamar. “Lil Wayne is the greatest. Not only because of his music but also because of the culture he put behind it. It was a big part of what he was talking about, so we always hold Lil Wayne in high regards. Juvenile as well. And yeah, it’s the impact of them man. To be a part of it the same way he was a part of it years later is just a great feeling.”

Weezy returned the compliment, calling K-Dot “a real one” on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time Kendrick has celebrated Weezy. Back in 2009, K-Dot released C4, which featured a series of Kendrick freestyles over Lil Wayne hits like “Mr. Carter” and “A Milli.” The two MCs later collaborated on Mike WiLL Made-It’s Future-assisted “Buy the World.”
