Watch an Unreleased Kanye West Freestyle from 2004

  /  02.04.2016

Before we get new Yeezy, here’s some vintage ‘Ye. On Thursday (Feb. 4), just as Mr. West revealed that his Feb. 11 album is still untitled, Tim Westwood dropped some never-before-seen footage of the G.O.O.D. Music boss at work.

The 2004 video, which was shot around the release of his debut The College Dropout, features ‘Ye dropping freestyles back-to-back over his own instrumentals. You might catch some familiar lines in these alternate versions of “Slow Jamz” and “Hold On.”

Rhyming beside ex-Roc-A-Fella leaders Dame Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Yeezy also unleashes classic bars from guest spots on tracks like Slum Village’s “Selfish” and Dilated Peoples’ “This Way.”

“I’ma take a little intermission,” he says at one point in the clip. “I’ma let y’all talk about how good I rap for a minute. Then I’ma come back.”

In honor of #TBT, watch Kanye’s 12-year-old freestyle below.
