Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, & SZA Make Forbes' '30 Under 30’ List

  /  11.14.2017

Hip-hop and R&B rule Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list. The annual roster, revealed today, features a slew of rappers and R&B singers, including 25-year-old Cardi B, 23-year-old Lil Uzi Vert, and 28-year-old SZA.

It’s a diverse list, ranging from rappers like Young M.A. (25), Travis Scott (26), Young Thug (26), and Migos MCs Takeoff (23), Offset (26), and Quavo (26), to singers like H.E.R. (20), Khalid (19), Mike Posner (29), and Bebe Rexha (28). Behind the scenes players like producer WondaGurl (21), engineer Kesha Lee (29), Logic’s manager Chris Zarou (28), Wiz Khalifa’s manager Will Dzombak (29), and Beyoncé’s choreographer JaQuel Knight (28) also made the list.

Carti appears in a video for the list, where he talks about his plans for the future. “I want to do fashion, I want to do movies, I want to write a book, I want an amusement park,” he said. “I want everything. I’m hungry.”

The list was selected by a panel of judges that included Skylar Grey, Pentatonix’s Kevin Olusola, Techstars Music’s Bob Moczydlowsky, and Forbes’ staff Natalie Robehmed and Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

Speaking of Khalid, Olusola said: “He’s galvanized so many teens who previously never thought it was possible to obtain their dreams after high school, and his music speaks directly to them. I’m so proud of everything he’s accomplished, and I’m excited to watch his artistry grow.”

Meanwhile, Skylar Grey showered Mike Posner with praise. “There is more than what meets the eye with Mike Posner,” she said. “Although he’s had a big career as an artist, his songwriting abilities have made him responsible for many other artists’ hits. With all he’s accomplished by age 29, this is like the ‘lifetime achievement’ award of 30 Under 30.”

Forbes’ new list appears in the December issue of the magazine, which features “30 Under 30” alum Kendrick Lamar on the cover.
