J. Cole and Daniel Caesar Perform 'Friends' at BET Awards
The Real is back. J. Cole made a surprise appearance at Sunday’s BET Awards. Following an introduction from host Jamie Foxx, the Fayetteville rapper delivered a powerful performance of “Friends” with some special guests.
The set opened with Wale, who was seated on a chair watching television while a table with pill bottles was placed in front of him. Then Daniel Caesar delivered his soulful vocals before Cole emerged against a screen that read “Choose Wisely.” Wearing a T-shirt that read “You have the right to remain silent,” he delivered his song about addiction.
“I wrote this shit to talk about the word addiction,” raps Cole. “To my ni**a, I hope you listening / This is for the whole fucking Ville, I hope you’re listening.”
“Friends” is a cut off Cole’s latest album KOD, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
