Kanye West Says He's Done Performing His Old Music

  /  10.26.2019

Kanye West plans to hit the road ASAP, but don’t expect to hear your favorite songs.

Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ that he’s “100% serious” that he will never perform his old music in its original form again. His newfound Christian faith has inspired the decision. He’s making music for God and is a changed man.

Fans can expect to hear familiar beats and rhymes, but with altered and more “G-rated” lyrics.

In an interview with “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” on REAL 92.3, he opened up about retiring the “Old Kanye.” “When you go to the Apple store, I don’t be seeing no iPod 4,” he told Big Boy.

When asked if he will ever perform his old music live, he said, “It ain’t even a probably,” before adding, “We could play that beat, but I’ma adjust it. Even when I do ‘Jesus Walks,’ I say, ‘We ain’t trying to turn atheists into believers.’ Now I say, ‘We are turning atheists into believers,’ and it be all off beat and everything.”

Kanye’s gospel-rap album Jesus Is King dropped Friday featuring 11 tracks, with contributions from Clipse, Timbaland, Ty Dolla $ign, Kenny G, and more. It is expected to debut at No. 1 with 225-275,000 equivalent album units, of which 60-85,000 are in sales.

On Friday, Kanye announced that he plans to tour “right away.” It’s been three years since his last arena tour, 2016’s “Saint Pablo Tour,” which was cut short due to his hospitalization.
