Some of you have been asking for the results of last week’s texting poll where we asked which song you thought was the best first single from four of today’s leading ladies of R&B. Here are the results:

1st Place: Mya f/ Lil’ Wayne – “Lock U Down” – 57%
2nd Place: Rihanna f/ Jay-Z – “Umbrella” – 20%
3rd Place: Kelly Rowland f/ Eve – “Like This” – 17%
4th Place: Amerie – “Gotta Work” – 7%

    Amerie
    Kelly/Eve
    Rihanna/Jay-Z
    Mya/Lil’ Wayne

    But I like them all, so I will be picking up a lot of albums this year.
    Amerie’s, Kelly’s, Ne-Yo’s, Brandy’s, Rihanna’s, Mya’s, Keyshia’s, Jennifer Hudson’s, Jennifer Lopez’s, the list goes on.

    Mya’s song is absolutely the coolest one. I’m sorry but Rihanna’s is so annoying with the ella ella ella parts. She just can’t sing and that’s it. Kelly’s is so-so and I haven’t even heard Amerie’s but her other singles are also annoying.

    I voted for Mya too, this was not about popularity, this was about who had tha best song, Mya came out tha Winner hands down, so dont hate on her, let her have her shine, Rhianna sucks, i really dont like her music, who would vote for her????? and Kelly, she is mediocre to me, i like her better with a group, and so beyonce. and Amerie, i like her but she hasnt proved anything to me yet, Mya is a 10yr vet in da game, and its time for her shine..AGAIN.. so get over it

    lol @ all the amerie hate.

    gotta work is a dope song. you don’t hear rihanna doing anything with her voice like amerie does on this track.

    rihanna is a lazy singer with even worse diction. not to mention she looks like beyonce with a ton of bricks squishing her face. um-ba-rella is absurd.

    i was hoping kelly would come with something better than this. its not a bad track at all, but its not moving her any closer to finding her own identity as an artist. in fact, any of the women in this poll could have performed this song to similar effect.

    lock u down track is pretty damn good. its definitely a grower. for me its between this track and ameries as far as best lead single. though im pretty sure that gotta work is just the uk lead single and crush is going to be the us lead single.

    KELLY, MYA, and RIHANNA songs are tied….I’ll be bying all of their albums on June 5 and June 26. Rihanna’s Single will probably do a little better though…her music aims to a broader crowd…..

    Who the hell said Amerie will never be a star? But your dumbass is feelin Rihanna’s pop rock retarded umbrella song? Why do you people feed into the looks and image for music? Rihanna is not talented at all and her 15 minutes of fame are running out. Mya song is wack, she only won because Rap-Up had that interview with her. I would pick Kelly’s song, even though it’s a bit weak for a first single.
