Music industry tracker HITS Daily Double is now reporting that Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III has surpassed Kanye West’s first-week sales of Graduation from September 2007.

As of today, Lil Wayne’s first-week sales are 969,000. Kanye sold 957,000 in his first week. Those numbers give TCIII the best first-week since 50 Cent’s Massacre moved 1.14 million units in March 2005.

Official totals will be released tomorrow.
