Today marks the seven-year anniversary since Aaliyah’s passing in 2001. We remember watching MTV on August 25th and reading the heartbreaking news as it scrolled across the bottom of the screen.
Here’s a tribute video created by a fan on YouTube. R.I.P. Baby Girl. Your music and legacy lives on.
I think this is one of the best tribute videos i’ve seen.
Aaliyah achieved what so many people aspire to achieve, and she did that in her 22 years of life. Both men and women, boys and girls have been influenced in some way by her. RIP Aaliyah.
EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS SHE’S STILL RELEVANT. YOU CAN TURN ON THE RADIO AND HEAR TRY AGAIN, OR MORE THAN A WOMAN AND IT SOUNDS AS IF IT CAME OUT TODAY. SHE’S DEFINITELY ONE IN A MILLION. RIP AALIYAH!
I swear, if she was still here today…BEYONCE will be irrelevant(or still wit destiny child), Rihanna would be a nobody, Ciara would not have a chance and neither would Ashanti. Only person would come close is A.Keys/Brandy (cuz when aaliyah died, so did REAL MUSIC)….Man she would have been BIG…man i was so sad to see her family at the funeral (especially her bro) prayer STILL go out to the haughton fam. RIP BABY GIRL…
Words from Aaliyah, “I want people to remember me as a full on entertainer, and a good person.” Well, Baby girl the world definitely remembers you in that way. R.I.P Liyah!
Oh Please Freshprince22 No 1 Asked You To Add All That! Its About Remembering The Great & Beautiful Aaliyah Im quite Sure That They Would Have STILL Have Came Out.All Those Artist You Have Named Haved Been In The Industry Since Pre-Teens Its Sad That You Have To Down OTHER Artist To Make Some1 Else Look Better! Anywho Aaliyah You Were Beautiful & VERY Talented I Loved You! RIP Baby Girl!!
I cant even believe its been 7 years, i was 13 when she passed, i still feel the same emotion everytime i see a picture of aaliyah cause she was such a beautiful person inside and out. It feels like the music industry and world was robbed. She brought the talent and pressence that no other artist could ever bring. I still think everyday how different music would be if she was still around. It def isnt the same anymore. R.I.P. Baby Girl
number 5 is soo right. Still relevant! I play the Aaliyah album and it’s still flawless and never dated, almost 10 years later!
and she died the night before my 10th birthday and the morning of my birthday I got the news. Worst birthday I’ve ever had and each one that follows is a lil bittersweet. The day before I’m always in mourning.
I cnt believe u ave been gone soo long days have passed nd we alwaez thnk of u aaliyah hope u in a better place watchin down on us all!!!we loved u soo much aaliyah R.I.P!!!!
R.I.P. BABYGIRL U WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS TRIBUTE TO AALIYAH BEST IVE SEEN SO FAR, I MISS HER & HER MUSIC SO MUCH. GOD BLESS HER FAMILY & FRIENDS.
I, along with with Rap-Up, remember reading about Aaliyah’s passing on the bottom of screen on MTV and i couldn’t believe it. She was such a great performer and was also one of the most humble artists of all time. It’s disappointing knowing that we won’t see how much bigger of a star she would have become but what she accomplished in her short life is quite remarkable. Her music will always be timeless to me. R.I.P. Aaliyah, you will always be in our hearts.
