Updated: M.I.A. Reveals Name of Baby Boy

When your mother has a song called “Galang” and your father is in a rock band, what do you name your child?

In the case of M.I.A., Ickitt. The baby boy was born on Feb. 11 in Los Angeles, three days after the “Paper Planes” rapper took the stage at the Grammys. This is M.I.A.’s first child with fiancé Benjamin Brewer, lead singer and guitarist of The Exit.

“He is healthy, fine, beautiful, and the most amazing thing ever on this planet,” the Sri Lankan artist wrote on her MySpace page days after the baby’s birth. “Of course, I’m his mum!”

UPDATE: Despite reports, M.I.A. says that her baby is not named Ickitt. In a MySpace blog posting on Friday, she writes:

MY BABY IS NOT CALLED ICKITT, PICKIT OR LICKIT THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL THE HOLLYWOOD PRESS. HES A BABY, HE DONT NEED PRESS!

I DIDNT RELEASE THE BABY NAME BECAUSE I DIDNT THINK IT WAS NEWS!!!!

BUT I WILL BE BACK WITH SOMETHING NEWS WORTHY SOON, TILL THEN GO PICK ON APPLE, SATCHEL AND MOON UNIT.

    Well M.I.A. real name is Mathangi anyway she is Sri Lankan Tamil descent where their culture is different & they have diffrent names than Americans do. She can name her child anything she wants.
