Jay-Z on Auto-Tune: ‘Let’s Move On’![]() Jay-Z has killed Auto-Tune and now he’s confessing to the crime. Hov called into Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 show on Friday after he premiered his new song, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).” He addressed the trend that’s been sweeping hip-hop. “Let’s move it forward. The guys who did it, did it great,” he told Flex. “If you listen to T-Pain, he does great melodies. If you listen to Kanye… If you listen to ‘Say You Will’ or ‘[Welcome to] Heartbreak,” they’re great melodies. ‘Lollipop’ was a fantastic melody. Now everybody can’t do it. Let them guys do it. They got their little niche. Now let’s move on.” Jigga elaborated on the reason he recorded the Auto-Tune killer. “My intention was just to draw a line in the sand. This is what I do.” While he cited “Heartless” and “Lollipop” as records that benefited from Auto-Tune, he feels it’s been overdone. “Those are things that can stand up without it. At this point, it’s like a crutch. Other people may not feel the same way.” Jay-Z also confirmed his deal with Atlantic Records, the label on which he will release The Blueprint 3, and explained the end of his relationship with Def Jam. “Def Jam and Universal did a beautiful thing. They let me pay. They overcharged me a little bit, but I appreciate all the years they put into my career. I could never have a record deal.” TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 9 CommentsLeave a Reply

I kinda see what he’s saying. I do love what T-Pain and Kanye have done wit it. I still stand behind 808′s & Heartbreak as being artistically amazing. I’ll always be singin them songs! :)

JAY Z is the man. Confident and smart. I give him major kuddos for helping his wife, Beyonce gain more market share as well.

He’s drawing a line in the sand that his lyrics are so catchy he don’t need autotune to make it hot. He and his writers if any are the best in the game. R-O-C for life, Jay-Z da realest dude in hip-hop. Can’t wait for bp3 to hit da streets.
