Why Did Kid Cudi Delete His Twitter Page?![]() Kid Cudi fans probably noticed that the rapper’s Twitter page mysteriously disappeared shortly before his album release. Mr. Solo Dolo shed some light on what may have led to the deletion.
Cudi’s desire for more privacy contributed to the dismantling of his Twitter account and blog. “I always have strange numbers calling my phone, and e-mails too,” he tells Rap-Up.com. “My last e-mail got hacked. However, I hate the fact that you can have on one device about eight different ways for someone to contact you. If you think about it, it’s kinda creepy.” “I have an iPhone and I don’t even utilize all of the applications on it. Just alone on an iPhone you can have multiple e-mails—I have two e-mails—text messaging, some people have AIM on there, MySpace, Facebook—and I don’t even have those things.” All the technology was getting too much for the “Day ‘N’ Nite” hitmaker. “With Twitter, my two e-mails, text messaging, and my phone ringing, that’s just overwhelming. And you gotta think of it like this, what did they do before there were cell phones? Use a pay phone or write a letter. Or you catch ’em at the crib.” The 25-year-old MC wants to go back to the old-school days when it was harder to reach people. “I think I want to take it back to that. Sometimes it just shouldn’t be that easy for you to get in contact with me.” –Reporting by Georgette Cline TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 25 CommentsLeave a Reply

Thanks for this Rap-Up, I was wondering why he did that. I do respect his point of view, it is too much when you think about it.

I understand, but if he wants to go back to the old days he needs to drop all of that stuff and get a pager or a just a house phone.

yeah i understand completely. but did he have to delete his blog too? a fan should at least know whats going on w/ their fav artist through some form of contact rather than no contact at all…

He is going to end up hurting his image with this. I respect his need to be confined in his own space without the distruption of a million- but he is going to lose a little something he had shared with his fans before- on a “personal” tip.

I agree with missymiss. Times are changing and evolving. You have to be able to keep up with the times or get left behind. Get a team or hire someone to tweet for you, you think Diddy sends out all those tweets himself?? Use them when u want, turn them off when you don’t. Everything can be good in moderation. Bad move Cudi.

I don’t feel it..
Even the biggest of stars have their own twitter – and they don’t even update it themselves.. just the fact that you have thousands of followers, and they get the latest tweets on your album and appearances is beneficial to all parties.
You actually don’t have to have a twitter application on your phone or ever recieve emails from them if your settings are that way. You can just go online, send out a tweet and not even read your timeline.

i feel cudi though, he just needs his space. hes still adjusting to being famous, so you gotta give him time to breathe. plus ppl get to personal nowadays when they know who are once you become famous.

i could raise comment with the idea that the iPhone is one of the most advanced pieces of tech, but i’m not here to geek out on ya. i for one applaud the decision. if you’re not going to twitter yourself why bother. If i want updates I have your website or the press releases if I want to know what’s up. The whole idea of social media (facebook, twitter, myspace) is to connect to someone as a person. i say twitter yourself or don’t bother. the idea of having someone twitter for you defeats the point.
i’m not saying you should delete the account but if you’re that hooked and that’s what it takes cut the cord, you do you.

CuDi made a smart move. Social networks are a fad. I’m glad he’s moved on.
