Do we even need to ask this question everyone and their mother knows Whitney had the best version, it even became a single for goodness sake.

I love the Majority of those but Beyonce’s was my favorite she killed it that year and Whitney Houston came in a a close second because her’s is Classic! JHud and Jordon Sparks were Ok but it sounded to Traditional like they didn’t put a Stand out Spin on it.Even though this is for the Super Bowl my other Favorite National Anthems are Marvin Gaye and Destiny’s Child.

Just the fact that I know that Whitney Lip-synched her version, makes me prefer Beyoncé’s live showing more. Plus the way she sung it was amazing. And I’m not even a fan of hers. Cuz I can’t stand her kiddy-bop music. But occasionally she gets me with songs like ‘Halo’ and this live showing.
Peace out!

@Gyannistar it is apparent that you know nothing like the rest of these clowns on here…..
Whitney and Diana are the only ones who sang live…The founder of the Super Bowl made that very clear and you can google bing yahoo that….
So in terms of an actual singer…….
WHITNEY HAS THAT ON LOCK….THATS ALL YOU HEAR PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IS WHITNEYS PERFORMANCE……

I love MCs performance way back in 1990 and the 2002 one. En Vogue also kills with their performances. For anyone who cares…Deborah Cox & Tamia have done excellent renditions of the Canadian national anthem as well!

Beyonce has the most annoying vibrato and can’t hold a steady note for longer than .5 seconds. She needs a vocal coach badly!!! Mariah, Whitney, and Jennifer and by far the best!!!
[Reply]
February 7th, 2010 at 8:35 am
LMAO!!! WHITNEY FIRST, THEN JENNIFER HUDSON and for the record they allllll lip synch.
[Reply]
February 7th, 2010 at 8:43 am
Jennifer’s I will have to go with. Her’s is definitely one of the most memorable ones. I barely even remembers Beyonce’s version being as thats the same year when Janet performed at the half time show and Janet trumped Beyonce that year and nobody barely remember her performing the thing. Beyonce was good but J-Hud brought me to tears and sent shivers down my spine. Whitney is actually my number 2

People really need to stop living in the past and voting for people only because they are legends and because they “can’t be beaten by today’s trash.” Beyonce’s was by far the most beautiful, the most technically perfect, and the most powerful. She does NOT need a singing coach lol. I love Whitney but who ever said up there that hers was live was lying to make a point. Beyonce’s was live.

OF COURSE WHITNEY’S THE BEST SINGER OF THEM ALL BUT….
Whitney’s was a classic, BUT I heard it was lipped, so for that I’ll have to go with Beyonce’s version. I’m not a fan of Jhud’s hollering either. Belting is great but when you overdo it, it becomes annoying. Liked Mariah’s version but didn’t love it. After that not sure.

No one sings at the Super Bowl live!!!! BEYONCE DID NOT SING LIVE!!!! Please speak with someone with a music degree about Beyonce…there is nothing perfect about her voice. Great for dance tracks but that is all!!! What ballad has Beyonce sang that has been a number one hit??? She doesn’t have one!!! There is a reason for that!!! She isn’t a vocalist!!!

Last time I checked, the Super Bowl and the billboard Hot 100 are in the United States!!! Too bad her ballads didn’t reach #1 here:( I think Whitney and Mariah know how to handle a ballad in every country!! I think Mariah has had the #1 song of the decade for the past two decades!!! Let’s not campare Beyonce to these ladies on the charts…she doesn’t campare!!!

Not even worth a discussion!
Beside the fact that we “europeans” feel very uncomfortable when people sing their national anthem loudly (LOL)
it is obvious for all eternity that whitney had the best version ever!
Until the end of superbowl /end of the world/ end of all time!
Her passion, pure and powerful energy and hopeful interpretation and her beautiful pre-crack smile are the personification of the american dream…

February 8th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
Ms. Houston killed the SSB and made it her own. In fact, in just about every one of the performances of the females who performed it after her, you can hear her influence. Whitney set the bar super high, and no one has since been able to even come close to her soul stirring rendition.

I can’t believe that people like Beyonce’s rendition more than Mariah’s and Whitney’s. It’s absurd! :(
[Reply]
February 9th, 2010 at 10:40 am
Everyone knows it’s just Beyonce-stans going nuts, clearing cookies & cache, and re-voting a million times. It’s ridiculous. Fact is this. Whitney’s rendition is the vocal standard of which others are measured against. She is the only artist who had SSB chart in top 10 BB hot 100 singles charts twice – 1991 and 2001. I’ve heard Whitney’s version is in the Smithsonian Institute and is the only version that is continuously played. Music critics, historians all note the importance and significance of Whitney’s SSB from 1991 Gulf War and 2001 Iraq conflict instilling national fervor in america. It is moronic to assume any other rendition/artist has had similar historical and musical importance.

It’s so accepted that Whitney’s is the best that it was damn foolish for Rap-Up to even create a poll like this. All it does it bring out the kids who don’t know better.

People who voted for this song was not honest. They picked who they liked the best. They did not vote on vocals and ability to deliever. The best and better song was done by Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Huston, and so on. Jhud came and replaced her idol Whitney. Jenny topped what Whitney did back in the 80′s.

The A stands for AMAZING both ladies did better than the rest. I really wanted for J hud to be up there but she really did scream. Remember we are basing our opinion on the super bowl performances not all other performances.
