Video: Kanye West f/ Rihanna & Kid Cudi – ‘All of the Lights’
Kanye West is changing colors in the Hype Williams-directed video for “All of the Lights,” the latest single off his platinum-certified album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Shot in Santa Monica, Calif., the clip begins by following a young girl walking through the cold streets before the chorus kicks in, accented by a colorful display of lyrics on the screen. ‘Ye soon appears rhyming on top of a cop car, while Rihanna and Kid Cudi sing for the cameras during their solos. Prepare to be dazzled by the flashing lights in the electric new video.

@meme, When I watched the video for the first time I would agree with you, but you have to dig deeper into the hidden symbolism in the video and the lyrics. Kanye West doesn’t make videos just to make video’s, he puts an underlying storyline that people need to discover. Take ‘Love Lockdown’ for example: the colors in the video, the African tribal women, and the naked women at the end of the video, this all has symbolism. I think what the beginning of the video was meant to symbolize is a lonely girl in a cold, black and white world without music. All the colors and vibrancy kick in after. Also listen to the lyrics closely, take this bar for example (referring to the girl):
“She need a daddy, baby please, can’t let her grow up in that ghetto university”
There’s probably more meaning to it, I just haven’t found it, lol. Anyways, don’t take this post in a bad way, it’s just my opinion.

Worst song on an otherwise amazing album. I prefer the intro on the CD to the actual song.
The video just extended that feeling. Guess the budget was spent on Runaway and the little bit that was left on Monster.
Kanye has much better material on the album and should make videos for those.
However, it is the most “pop” sounding song on the album. And what’s hot in the charts is usually bad anyway (see Gaga’s rubbish song breaking records right now). So it’s understanding why he’d release this mediocre offering from his album.

the song in itself is very deep, and with k, west hes very creative and hes smart and his
albums have deep meaning. look @ those apartments in the background where the little girl is walking to school. and another thing to those of you who are talking about the video i agree the video could have been more than it was coming with such a beautiful song. but all of us know by now that the price of the video does not make it sell any better are win grammys now don’t we ? we have had black and white videos take the grammys home now haven’t we??
