Rap-Up.com || Nicki Minaj Added to Grammy Nominations Concert Lineup

Fresh off her two wins at Sunday’s AMAs, Nicki Minaj is gearing up for another big award show. The Pink Friday rapper has been added to the star-studded lineup for the “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night.”

The previously nominated Minaj and Katy Perry will each present during the one-hour CBS special, airing live on November 30 at 10 p.m. EST from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. The show will announce nominations in several categories for the 54th annual ceremony next February.

Usher will join Valerie Simpson of hitmaking duo Ashford and Simpson and Mike Stoller of the songwriting team Leiber & Stoller in a moving tribute to songwriters. Both lost their longtime songwriting partners, Nick Ashford and Jerry Leiber, this past year.

Other performers include Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Lupe Fiasco, Ludacris, Sugarland, and the Band Perry. LL Cool J will return as host.

I just really dont understand why everybody consider her pop because her biggest selling song is pop- ish. Lil kim most successful song ” lady marmalade” was pop. Missy most succesful song was ” work it” that wasnt hardcore rap. Eve most successful song ” let me blow your mind” featured a pop artist. So plenty of female rap artist arent always hardcore rappers. So why push it all on Nicki that she a pop artist. Kanye West singles selling over 3 million ” Stronger, Love Lockdown, and Heartless” all pop-ish songs. Lil wayne “Lollipop” wasnt real rap. Doesnt make any sense when almost all rappers do it that only a female at the top is always talked about badly just let her shine. And when her time is up let her gracefully bow out.

“Lean Back” and “Conceited” were straight rap…”Stand Up” and “Gettin’ Some” were straight rap.

These others have the MONEY (and maybe the POWER)…but they’re missing the RESPECT (the most important part)…something my favorites have.

@Shawn, it’s because they occasionally made pop songs. Nicki mostly makes pop songs and its not just the songs…her personality the way she moves the way she promotes herself the way she’s so into all the records she’s breaking on the charts….it all screams: Pop. Everything about her so Pop right now. Not saying Pop is bad, but Pop music usually is just simple shit with catchy hooks and weak lyrics and thats something looked down upon in rap because well….their talent lies in their lyrics.

@Shade, You know pop means popular right? They consider eminem a pop artist so being “pop”ular actually isn’t simple as u may think it is. Any song can cross over to top 40 radio if it gets popular enough. Nicki can do both hardcore rap (did it on em, romans revenge) and pop (right thru me, super bass). Don’t hate cuz the chick can be a “pop”ular rapper.
