Nelly Furtado Makes ‘Soulful’ Music with Salaam Remi

Salaam Remi and Nelly Furtado

Before Christmas, Nelly Furtado shared some footage from her recording sessions with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Now the singer hits the studio with Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas) to record the follow-up to her multi-platinum English album Loose, due next summer. “It has a real classic sound to it, a sound that’s really authentic, super soulful,” says Nelly.

@REM, its a shame amy winehouse isn’t alive. she made the best soul album to come out in years with Back to Black. Sad we will never get a proper follow up. R.I.P. Amy t

I’m actually really curious to see how Nelly Furtado will be received once she drops her next mainstream english album. It seems weird to think that it’s been over 5 years since “Loose” came out and a lot has changed since then. Her and Fergie were running the pop scene then and now it’ll be interesting to see if she can do it all over again. Her and Timbaland had great chemistry together on that album though. I can still listen to it and appreciate it.

    So can’t wait! Nelly! ♥

Yes! But she has to work with Timbaland to make number one hits! I doubt Salaam Remi and Rodney Jenkins can do that, even though they make good music.
