Rap-Up.com || New Music: Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj proved she can still pack a punch with “Stupid Hoe,” and now she pleases her pop fans with her crossover single “Starships.” The Harajuku Barbie blasts off with super-producer RedOne (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez) on the radio-friendly record, which will appear on her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, due April 3.

“Starships were meant to fly/ Hands up and touch the sky/ Can’t stop ’cause we’re so high/ Let’s do this one more time,” she sings on the infectious party anthem, which features a brief sample of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

An excited Nicki spoke about the song in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. “‘Starships’ is one of my absolute, absolute favorite records on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” she said. “It makes people feel happy and that’s all I want. I want to start the year off with making people feel good.”

And back then female rappers weren’t really getting the opportunity to have those types of endorsements (make up lines, fragrance, etc.), that wasn’t the trend for artists like it is today…there’s no need to nit-pick about who did what, they both are big stars and have set standards…why even compare these new artists to legends who paved the way for them? Nicki is the one who should show Kim respect and squash the beef, she’s the newbie…and Kim doesn’t need millions of followers on twitter and endorsement deals, she doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone b/c she already had major success. Like I said, this is a different era, no veteran should have to step down and prove anything to these young artists. Kim has done her deeds, what more do u need from her besides some new music? I feel as though she’s making “smart” music.

Because her “Super Bass” song got such great success she feels as though thats what people like. This song is #5 on itunes without any advertising or anything. This may not be her best song but the is her smartest song yet! I bet her album will sell $$$$$$$.

Give the girl some credit, she had some money to work with for this next album, she bought 4 redOne tracks, they will most likely be BIG pop tracks, look at what what this man has done for Lady Gaga (producing some of her biggest hits) Nicki is hoping for the same boost in name recognition and status. We know she can master the hip hop charts if she chooses, lets she how she fares in the pop world. Bottom line, its about making money, HER ego, and Nicki’s goals of becoming a mogul like J and recognized like Madonna.

I will love Nicki no matter what she puts out… even if I don’t love it! I’m proud of Nicki trying to be different and doing different stuff… she’s exploring her strengths an weaknesses!! And I haven’t even read that much into all of these comments and half the people commenting are constantly contradicting themselves constantly in they’re little fights!!
