Tyga

The ladies went wild when the man with the No. 4 album in the country, Tyga, paid a visit to “106 & Park” on Wednesday. The Young Money rapper explained why his album Careless World was unavailable at some retailers during its first week of release. An uncleared sample of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech forced it to be pulled from stores and re-shipped. It ended up selling 61,000 copies in its first week based mostly on digital sales.

Tyga revealed that he had the option of delaying the album by two weeks or keeping the February 21 release date. “I had over 200,000 CDs in stores—Best Buy, Walmart, Target—and then I got a call two days before the album was about to drop and they were like, ‘Yo, either we got to push your date back another two weeks or you ain’t gonna have no albums the first week,” he told Terrence and Rocsi.

Not wanting to let his fans down, he decided to release the album to iTunes regardless of the first-week figures.

The Cali native, who is currently playing shows across the country on his “Careless World” tour, also introduced his female rap signee Honey Cocaine, who can be heard on Teyana Taylor’s song “Bad Boy.”
